Story

This version (for Quintet) came from the large ensemble piece that I wrote (See Music for Jazz Orchestra).
The amazing "grace," with which my brother lived his life, is the inspiration for this music.

Story

There is a line in a Herman Hesse poem that goes, "...to find new light that old ties cannot give” which gave me the title and the inspiration for the music. I know, sounds a bit esoteric, HA! Basically it's a funky plunger romp for me and the band!

Story

My Grandpa Olaus (my mother’s father) came to America as a teenager at the age of 19, traveling with one of his younger brothers on ship from Norway, eventually landing at Ellis Island. I thought about his voyage when I wrote this piece.

Story

When I lived in Las Vegas there was this TV doctor who would do public service announcements early in the morning. Maybe it was because (at times) I was just coming home when I heard him, but I always wondered if he was abusing his own prescription pad, HA!
The intro to this was inspired by/and is dedicated to the “silo crew” from Music Omi 2004. You know who you are!
